Lactobacillus plantarum adheres predominantly to the small intestine due to the prevailing acidic and aerobic environment. Enterococcus mundtii prefers the more alkaline & anaerobic conditions of the large intestine. This results in a complete lining of the gastrointestinal tract.

Both Lactobacillus plantarum and Enterococcus mundtii contain genes encoding adhesion proteins and can therefore facilitate stronger binding to the mucus and epithelial layers of the ENTIRE gut.
